FAQ

What helps with fertility naturally?

There are definitely ways to increase your fertility naturally. If you are struggling with infertility, it can be easy to jump straight to medical intervention like meds, IUI, or IVF. But before you do that, there are several things you can do to increase fertility naturally. Whether it’s diet, supplements, herbs, exercise, or self care, there are steps you can take today to prime your body for reproductive health. Some examples include reducing or cutting caffeine and alcohol, avoiding refined carbohydrates, maintaining a healthy weight, and taking time to relax. Any steps toward a healthy lifestyle will be helpful in naturally boosting your fertility. The idea is to get healthy to get pregnant.

How can I improve my egg quality?

If you are actively trying to conceive, you are probably well aware of the fact that your egg quality plays a vital role in your chances of getting pregnant. The truth is that when you are on that trying-to-conceive journey, it only takes one egg to make it happen. But it always helps to increase your odds of success by ensuring that the eggs you do have are your best. So how can you do that?

The best way to ensure you are putting your best foot—or egg—forward is by doing all of the things that enhance your overall health. Maintain a healthy body weight, eat a balanced diet, reduce stress, practice healthy exercise, avoid/reduce caffeine and alcohol intake, quit smoking, get adequate sleep, etc. Additionally, if you are looking to up your egg-quality game, look into other added approaches such as minimizing toxin exposure as well as trying specific herbs, supplements, or even trying acupuncture.

Another great title to add to your fertility book collection is It Starts With the Egg by Rebecca Fett. In this book, Rebecca uses an evidence-based approach to teach about improving egg quality and overall fertility. As women age, their egg quality and egg count decreases. It’s a fact of life. Fett teaches readers how to improve egg quality by using a program designed to do just that. She offers specific recommendations for supplements, nutrition, and strategies to minimize toxin exposure that may contribute to overall infertility. And Fett even addresses specific fertility challenges such as PCOS, endometriosis, etc.—and provides advice for each scenario. Click here to view the book on Amazon.

What herbs increase fertility?

Before you start exploring some more aggressive ways to increase your fertility, you may want to look into some natural methods, including supplements and herbs. There are several options that you can try that may be helpful in boosting your reproductive chances of pregnancy.

Each herb helps the body to function in a certain way. Whether it’s to improve ovulation, regulate hormone imbalances, increase cervical fluids, you will want to check with your provider to see which herb or combination of herbs is best for your specific body and needs.

What can help me get pregnant fast?

The most important tip to get pregnant as fast as possible is to learn more about your body. Get to know your menstrual cycle—from cycle day 1 to the next cycle day 1. Recognize how your body changes throughout your cycle. You can start by asking yourself the following questions:

  • Do I know how long my cycle is?

  • Can I tell when my period is approaching?

  • Do I know when I am ovulating?

  • Do I know how to time intercourse for optimal chances of conception?

  • Am I living a healthy lifestyle and striving to maintain a healthy body weight?

  • Am I taking a prenatal vitamin?

  • Am I regularly moving my body in healthy and nurturing ways?

If you answered “no” to any of those questions, feel free to seek help. Ask your healthcare provider. Get advice. Learn more about how your body functions and what you can do to conceive. Knowledge is empowerment.

What is the success rate of getting pregnant naturally?

Statistically speaking, natural pregnancy success rates can vary based on a number of factors including age, health history, genetics, previous pregnancy, etc. And regardless of all that, most women only have less than 1 week per cycle when they are most fertile and can actually become pregnant. So, it is definitely helpful to know your odds. Then you add in the male factor fertility rates, and the statistics are a little less clear.

If neither partner has any known fertility challenges, the following natural conception rates generally apply (rates are within a year of trying):

  • Early 20s: 90%+ success rate

  • Mid-to-late 20s: 86%+ success rate

  • Early 30s: up to 86% (with an increased chance of miscarriage)

  • Mid-to-late 30s: up to 78% success rate (with an increased chance of miscarriage)

  • Early 40s: As women age, egg quality and count decrease. Success rates vary, but decrease. Assisted reproductive technology might increase conception rates in this age group.

You can increase your fertility and overall chances of conception by living a healthy lifestyle. If you find that you are still not conceiving (after 1 year, or after 6 months if you are over 35) despite your natural efforts, you may want to talk to your healthcare provider.
